Established in 1992 by Nigel Deekes, Michael Weaver and Richard Bakewell, Acres Estate Agents soon established a reputation for quality service and for achieving the best sale price possible for their clients whilst providing a personal pro-active service. Over the past 31 years, Acres have assisted their clients, both new and returning, to move house both smoothly and with expert advice, providing a quality professional customer service whilst also being able to assist with additional important features such as surveys, mortgage finance together with auctions, land and new homes sales.

Acres are a privately owned, family estate agency with offices serving the greater Sutton Coldfield area including Four Oaks, Great Barr, Walmley, Streetly and the surrounding North Birmingham area.

Being run and managed by Nigel and Jayne Deekes, Acres are a true family business having both their son, Christopher, and daughter, Katrina, working within the company. We pride ourselves on a highly established team, with the majority of staff having worked for Acres for many years. Continuity of service and expert local knowledge is paramount.

Nigel Deekes established Acres Estate Agents in 1992 with his then two partners as a progressive, independent agency focused on service, and results.

Nigel’s career in Estate Agency started in 1984 when he joined a local company following an interest in agency which had been present for many years.

Nigel is a Fellow of the National Association Of Estate Agents and member of ARLA, the lettings professional body, additionally he is also a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor.

As the senior Partner of Acres he is actively involved in all aspects of Estate Agency running our busy, highly successful Four Oaks Office with a long standing, dedicated team providing expert advice on all aspects of buying, selling and land transactions, as well as taking responsibly for the running of the Acres offices.

Nigel is actively involved in his private time with various Leukaemia charities, as both a trustee, and an active patients advocate, helping with fund raising and attending conferences to raise awareness and dealing with the pharmaceutical companies.

A keen squash player for many years, Nigel is married to Jayne, also his business partner, and has two children that also are within the Acres team, making Acres a true family run agency.

Jayne commenced her Estate Agency career at the age of 18, joining a local independent Estate Agency where she progressed her career within over the next 12 years, gaining an in depth knowledge of all aspects of Agency.

After starting a family with Nigel, Acres other partner, Jayne returned to the property profession within the surveying field, working for a local independent RICS surveying practice.

As a partner of Acres Estate Agents, Jayne is based at the Four Oaks office, dealing with transactions for both vendors and purchasers.

Sharron is a local lady that has lived and worked in Sutton Coldfield for over 25 years.

Joining Acres in April 2000 Sharron manages our very busy Sutton Coldfield office covering the greater Sutton Area. Over the years Sharron and her long established team soon created a buzz around the area rapidly establishing the office as the market leader.

Accordingly, Sharron has since helped hundreds of happy clients both sell and buy in the Sutton Coldfield, Wylde Green, Boldmere and Walmley areas.

Over the past 20 years Sharron has gained an expert knowledge of the area, its prices and the wants and desires of her clients. Indeed Sharron has sold multiple times for some clients and deals in all types of property ranging from small one bedroom apartments to large executive properties, together with many new build developments. She understands that her clients are selling their biggest asset, or perhaps a much loved family home and so ensures that you are very confident in her ability to secure the best price, from a proceedable buyer.

Sharron is a qualified member of the National association of Estate Agents M.N.A.E.A and qualified D.E.A. enabling her to carry out your energy performance certificate.

In her spare time Sharron very much enjoys family time and socialising with extended family. She also enjoys weekly yoga and Pilates classes.

From a young age Chris has always been focused on a career within estate agency & lettings. Chris took decision when joining to work for a local letting agency to gain an in-depth wider knowledge of property.

Working away purposely from the family business initially to gain wider experience, Chris several years later joined Acres, moving to property sales, where he has found his forte. Based at Acres Great Barr office working along side his sister Katie, this has created a focused team that really has worked so well. A family business, and family run office Chris’s focus is upon service, sales and results proven by the strength of the very busy Great Barr office.

A keen squash and footballer Chris lives locally and enjoys additionally spending time with family and friends.

Liz joined Acres in 2007. Over the following 16 years or so Liz has been based exclusively at our Four Oaks office and deals with all aspects of the sales process for both vendors and purchasers from providing expert market appraisals and knowledge through to her dynamic sales ability to achieve the best possible price for our clients.

Liz subsequently oversees the Four Oaks team as Office Manager to ensure sales progress as quickly and smoothly as possible.

A local lady living and working within the Four Oaks area, Liz has comprehensive breadth of knowledge and experience.

Additionally, Elizabeth is a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor.

In her spare time, Liz enjoys being with her family and friends as well as walking her beloved Labrador in Sutton Park.

Chris was destined to go into estate agency, with both his parents having worked in the industry for the majority of their working life, Chris inherited an urge to sell properties. From working at his family run estate agency part time during school holidays and weekends, Chris then worked in finance until joining his family run estate agents in 2011. In the 10 years spent selling properties in Wolverhampton and enjoying much success in Wolverhampton and had appeared in 40 episodes of BBC’s Homes Under the Hammer on properties he had resold.

Chris decided to leave the Midlands for a sunnier climate in Dubai and spent 2 years as a real estate broker selling apartments, villas and mansions to buyers from all over the globe.

When returning to the UK, Chris joined a corporate estate agents in Lichfield. With an experience of a local run family estate agents/UK corporate estate agents/International real estate brokerage Chris is able to use his knowledge and help to guide any of his clients during the sales or purchase process.

In Chris’ spare time he enjoys socialising with friends and family as well as a keen gym goer.

I joined Acres some 10 years ago. During this time I have been both Accounts Manager for the business and assistant to Nigel & Jayne in the smooth running of the business.

My main role is to ensure the smooth running of our accounts department, supporting the offices and lettings department with management payments etc.

I am CIMA qualified and have worked in many other fields. However, I have to say I love the variety my current role offers, whilst also allowing me to stay very involved in the accounting, which I have always enjoyed.

Out of work I am a keen fundraiser for MNDA having helped raise well in excess of £10,000 in recent years with the help of family, friends and the support of Acres.

Lisa has experience in this role since January 2018 and has gained valuable experience, providing support from the initial application and throughout the mortgage term. She prides herself on offering a first-class service to all clients, ensuring their financial needs are taken care of.

Initially, joining Acres as a sales progressor, Claire has recently joined Acres Financial Services and is enjoying supporting Lisa & Ryan with their ongoing mortgage cases, whilst also studying part time to become a mortgage advisor herself.

Claire has a passion for animals (especially dogs) and in her spare time enjoys doing anything involving arts and crafts!!

My day to day roll gives the chance to oversee all aspects of the Acres business from staffing, logistics and utilities, as well as assisting Nigel Deekes, Acres senior partner with many other key aspects.

Katrina Deekes commenced her career within estate agency upon completion of her Law and Business studies course.

Having worked initially for a corporate agency within the Lettings market, incorporating all aspects of the lettings field Katie subsequently found her true calling within estate agency, being sales.

Katie joined Acres, her family’s independently owned and run business in 2019. Katie is based at our busy Walmley office dealing with all aspects of the sales and buying process, helping both vendors and purchasers with their property move.

Katie enjoys keeping healthy and fit in her own time and loves spending time with friends and family.

Having working in agency since leaving college I have gained a great deal of experience both in sales, marketing, and placing property on the market.

During my time with Acres I have established some fantastic relationships with fellow colleagues, as well as purchasers and vendors alike. As someone who enjoys building rapport with each and every person that walks through our door, you’ll often find me sat at the front of our Walmley branch with a smile and an offer of a hot or cold drink!

I have worked within the property industry in both Sales, Lettings and finance throughout my working life, it has been said that I have a wonderful work ethic and a very helpful nature.

Based at our busy Walmley office within a great team, I love my role, helping people getting into their dream home, and the variety it brings.

Over the past 30 years I have working for both a multinational agency for many years, associated businesses and of course Acres independent estate agents. I love the approach that Acres being a proactive independent brings to both their marketing, and family feel within the company.

My role as contract liaison person means I speak to my buyers, sellers, and solicitors on a daily basis helping clients achieve their dream move, whilst helping smooth the path, where needed.

On a personal note I have been married for 26 years with a grown up family, I enjoy reading, socialising of course and meeting new people which is where this role is perfect for me.

Natalie started her career in property working for a busy West Midlands Auction House at the age of 19. Developing her skills and experience in Commercial Agency and then within the Residential Auction department. She joined Acres in 2019 looking to kick start her career in Residential sales.

Natalie joined the Great Barr office as an administrator helping with the progress of the sales along side her team.

In her spare time she loves to be with family and friends, spending most of her time with her beautiful daughter Sophia. I've loved the years that I've worked in residential estate agency and auctions. Joining Acres following several years within a property auction department, I was so pleased to be back in frontline, client facing estate agency once more. Working with the team at Great Barr has been great fun and very rewarding. My role as administrator means that I have to have an outstanding eye for attention to detail. I thoroughly enjoy meeting clients in the office to discuss their move, or property requirements. On returning to work after my maternity leave in 2023, I moved to the busy Great Barr office, here I conduct viewings, deal with enquiries and negotiate offers. I really enjoy going out and meeting new people on viewings and visiting some lovely properties.

I started my career in conveyancing at a local solicitor’s firm, where I developed skills and experience in property law. I felt this would give me a great advantage within the Estate Agency world hence joining Acres and not looking back!

I joined Acres in 2022 looking to further my property career in residential sales as I feel I work well with people and I enjoy meeting new people and helping clients find their dream home.

With my previous role, I worked within conveyancing which allows me to assist my Vendors with a smooth, easy transaction throughout conveyancing and to completion.

On my days off I enjoy spending time with my friends and family going on walks or shopping in Merry Hill.

Steve has over 23 years of experience in all aspects of estate agency, with roles varying from market appraiser, negotiator, sales progressor & branch manager.

Steve joined the team at Acres as sales progressor & his primary role is to care for all property sales for the Sutton Coldfield & Great Barr offices, making sure they proceed to completion, being there as a reassuring & caring voice to our customers throughout the sale process. Steve also supports the branch managers by carrying out market appraisals & visiting potential new clients.

Steve is a "cat dad" of three lovely little balls of fluff called Harry, Hermione & Ron, while in his spare time he is a loyal supporter of Liverpool Football Club, having seen the Mighty Reds lift the European Cup in 2005 - but please don't hold that against him!
